I wanted to become a teacher since kindergarten. I began my career, bright-eyed and bushy tailed, in 1995 at the age of 23. I taught French Immersion (grades 1-11) for over two decades, as well as at the American International School in Amman, Jordan for two years. Then, I made a radical shift to alternate education where I found my deep calling.

My experiences stem from a myriad of both mainstream and alternate classrooms, though have led me to consider the wider scope of how humans interact with each other. My research about students' desires and needs are lessons well beyond the realm of education. They teach us how we can interact with others to collectively foster wellness.

Here is my PhD thesis, for the Faculty of Education, Simon Fraser University:
  • Lessons from Beauvais: Dialogues at a Youth Concurrent Disorders Centre
Here is the academic reference to the thesis.
With gratitude, I breathe, walk, hike, play, admire, and live on the traditional territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
